Well, my "mother's intuition" was correct again! Austin wasn't having complex partial seizures, and the medicine used to treat them was making his current seizures worse. So it was definitely a good thing that we went today! He had a couple mini-seizures while the doctor was examining him, so that helped, as did the video. He's having a couple different types of seizures, one being myoclonic. It's common to have the tonic-clonic, or grand mal seizures, with these types of seizures. The pediatric neurologist, Dr. Moe, put him on a couple different meds, and said the seizures should stop within a week! YEAH! If they don't stop, we'll try some other meds and/or further testing will need to be done, such as an MRI, etc. PLEASE PRAY THE MEDS WILL WORK THIS TIME! Dr. Moe also said that it's very common for children with these types of seizures to have mental and physical development problems, and Austin definitely DOES NOT, which is a VERY GOOD sign, and also greatly increases his chances of growing out of them!!! God is working miracles!
We met a family visiting their nephew who is having chemo treatments. Sometimes I think we have it bad, but I am so grateful that this is all we have to go through. It could be so much worse! God works in mysterious ways, but he has a plan for everything.
This was the most positive appointment we've had so far! I feel confident that we'll finally be able to get this under control, and it's because of all your prayers! THANK YOU! Please continue to pray! We appreciate you all SO MUCH!
